A flag day ceremony was held June 14, 2009 at Palm Beach Memorial Park in which scores of United States flags received their proper retirement. The ceremony was coordinated by the Regent's Council of the Palm Beaches and was designed to teach people about the history of the flag, as well as how to honor and respect the flag when it is in use and when it is retired. At the conclusion of the program the flags were slowly burned in a large metal barrow. Photos by Palm Beach Post photographer Damon Higgins
