Importers of a once-ridiculed Russian four-wheel drive vehicle are expecting a sharp increase in orders when the Land Rover Defender reaches the end of the road this year.

The Defender, a favourite with farmers and land owners since 1948, has been killed off by modern safety regulations. The Lada Niva, a utilitarian metal box with off-road capabilities, is expected to fill the hole and has the advantage of being less than half the price.
Видимо, Нива соответствует английским "Модерн, сейфети регулайшионс" :))))
